Students have enjoyed a fun-filled first month of learning! Activities have ranged from regular class activities to a shoreline clean-up, bake sales, and of course, our annual Terry Fox run.
Our elementary students wrapped up the month reflecting on Truth and Reconciliation. A big thank you high school student, Eleanor Liu, who shared with our elementary students, her book, “30 Trailblazers in Truth and Reconciliation” consisting of 30 interviews with Indigenous and non-Indigenous advocates. It’s Eleanor’s hope that her interviews and storytelling format would humanize traumatic Residential School stories and transform them to be more approachable by the average Canadian student and citizen. The book can be found Amazon.
