Kind thanks to all families who took the time to attend our Parent/Child Workshops! We hope it was both enjoyable and informative for you and your child/ren!
This week, our Extended-Day and Elementary community also participated in WE Day Vancouver events. On Tuesday morning, the Kindergarten/Extended-Day and Lower Elementary students were treated to a beautiful performance by the Kenyan Boys’ Choir. Later that day, some of our Upper Elementary students attended the “Evening of Inspiration”, an intimate WE Day “cocktail” reception and were inspired by such notable speakers as Free the Children founders, Craig and Marc Kielburger and author, Spencer West.
On Wednesday, the Upper Elementary group attended the main WE Day event at Rogers Arena. Special speakers and performances celebrated our youth making a difference in their local and global communities.
Inspired by WE Day, our students at Anchor Point decided to divide their yearly fundraising efforts in 3 main categories:
– enrichment activities
– continue sponsoring our Nepalese student Tenzin Choden and the Shree Mangal Dvip Schools (the Lions Gate community have been supporting Tenzin since April, 2008)
– create a fund for a future social action (still to be determined by our students) that will empower others and transform lives.
Pictures of this and other events will be up on our Full Monte blog in the coming weeks!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
The Staff at Lions Gate Montessori
