Our trip to Victoria was an adventure! The children were excited to be on the ferry with their friends and kept themselves busy by snacking and playing games.
Our first destination was the Royal BC Museum. Being there made us feel as though we had traveled back in time as the displays were beautiful and seemed so real. The children were so enthralled, they did not want to leave!
After lunch, we ventured off to our province’s Parliament Building, home to British Columbia’s Legislative Assembly and were welcomed by MLA Rob Fleming, representative for the Victoria-Swan Lake riding and the opposition critic for Education. Mr Fleming kindly took the time to provide for us, an overview of what it’s like to be a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). What an honour! Warmest thanks to Cairo’s mom, Katia for the arrangement to meet Mr Fleming! We were then ready for our tour inside the building. The children were intrigued by our province’s history and came away with a greater understanding of our provincial system of government. What an amazing and informative tour!
We were all thankful for the opportunity to spend a full day in Victoria for a nominal fee with thanks to PSG (partial funding for cost of transportation), our province’s Capital for Kids Travel Funding, and our students’ own Enrichment Fund. The day was LONG but it was worth every second for we all enjoyed a beautiful day filled with excitement and wonder!
