Happy Earth Day!

Students were introduced to the importance of reducing, recycling and re-using ahead of Earth Day. Their Upper Elementary peers applied knowledge of the “3-Rs” and ecology during their week at Camp Fircom with outdoor activities connecting to the beauty and wonder of our natural world.

Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and, when the grass of the meadows is damp with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath it’s shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning as it wakes every living creature that divides its day between waking and sleeping.” – Maria Montessori

April Arts Highlights

One highlight this Spring has been enjoying the arts! Students in grade 3 to 6 also attended the Reel2Real Youth Film Festival and participated in a digital filmmaking workshop earlier this month followed by attendance at the VSO’s Philharmonia Fantastique concert with all elementary students.
