Lions Gate Winter Party – Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 from 1:00pm to 3:30pm: Our Holiday Market will take place in the Exhibition Hall. We will be sending more details on the event in the upcoming weeks.
Accepting Donations for the Holiday Market: Our holiday market this year will include arts and crafts, in addition to baked goods and other delicious treats. If you would like to contribute to the market, please drop off donations at your child’s school between December 2nd and December 9th, or directly at the Holiday Market on the morning of December 10th. Please note that all proceeds from the holiday market will go toward enrichment programs and activities for our students.
Supporting our school through amazon.ca purchases: The bookstore page of this website has a direct link to Amazon.ca. Any purchases that are made on the Amazon.ca site through this link will generate revenue towards scholarships and our students’ enrichment funds. This is true for any purchase (not just books!) so long as the entry is from that page. Please let your friends and family know that they can help support our schools through their Amazon.ca purchases through the link on our site. You can access the bookstore without needing to login to the site with a password.
Hot Lunch Program: November Hot Lunches are now available for ordering. Kindly note that orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance. Just a reminder that hot lunches can be ordered anytime during the month. Please make payments as soon as you have a confirmed order. If your child has recently transferred from Mole Hill/North Creek to Anchor Point, please remember to update your profile to ensure that lunch is delivered to the right location. YVR Field Trip – Wednesday, November 19th: The Upper Elementary and Adolescent students will be visiting the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on Wednesday, November 19th, to take part in The Future Lands Here school tour program. Permission Forms are available for download from the School Forms page and are due Friday November 7th.
VSO Outing for UE/Adolescent – Thursday, November 20th: Anchor Point’s Upper Elementary and Adolescent students will be visiting the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra on Friday, November 20th at 10:00am. We will be attending “The VSO’s Greatest Hits!” Through masterworks by composers including Mozart, Beethoven, and Rossini, students will learn why these pillars of orchestral repertoire have earned a permanent place in our orchestral hall of fame. The permission form for this may be downloaded from the School Forms page. Seating is assigned on a first come, first served basis, so we kindly ask that you submit the permission slip and fee by Friday, November 14th. Please be aware that we will not be accepting late submissions.
Parent-Only Night “Silent Journey” – 6pm-8pm, Thursday, November 27th: The Anchor Point staff will be hosting a parents-only event the night of November 27th. The event will be an opportunity for parent’s to have a hands-on experience with how your children work with our Montessori materials during the three-hour work cycle. Sign up sheets will be posted at the door next week.

Make Up Mandarin Class: A make up Mandarin Class for preschool will be held on Friday, November 14th, from 11:45am to 12:45pm. This is a make up class for the cancellation on October 27th.

Author Visit at the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library – Monday, November 10 at 3:00pm: On November 10th (our next PD Day), the Children’s Library is hosting an author visit! David Weale and Pierre Pratt will be there to discuss their book Doors in the Air. This program is suited for children ages 6 and up but fun for the whole family. A number of the author’s books will be given away during the program.
Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour at Bill Copeland Center – November 8 & 9 starting at 12 pm: In every Canadian city, town and arena there’s a great hockey story. NHL legend Joe Sakic’s hometown of Burnaby boasts a minor hockey program that has produced big-time NHL talent. You’re invited to join our free weekend outdoor hockey festival packed with interactive activities for all ages,. Come and Meet with NHL Alumni™, local hockey heroes and celebrities. The Forbidden City, Inside the Court of China’s Emperors: Until January 11th, the Vancouver Art Gallery will be transformed into the court of China’s Emperors for the landmark exhibition. Selected from the vast collections of Beijing’s Palace Museum, the exhibition showcases nearly 200 precious works from the Forbidden City that have rarely been seen outside of China. Circle Craft Christmas Market – November 11th to November 16th: Since 1973, Circle Craft Co-operative has presented a Christmas Market, the success of this inaugural event has resulted in 40 Markets to date. Generations of Vancouverites and visitors have attended, enjoying a Market where they come face to face with fine BC and Canadian artisans and their work: wood-turners, glassblowers, sculptors and potters, clothing and jewelery designers, toy-makers, and many more. Dwellings – From Seabeds to Cityscapes: This exhibition of young people’s art explores where we live and how we inhabit space shapes our experiences, our culture, and even who we are. Investigate how creatures in different habitats interact with the spaces they inhabit, envision the human body as a dwelling space, imagine habitations for people in the future, and delve into many other creative contemplation on where we dwell.
